V-XXX (0780-05-230): version Mazda
V-353 (XXX-XX-XXX): Version Jaguar Land Rover

TestBook 1, 2 & 3
PC-Based diagnostic platform made by Omitech for Rover Group. 25-50Mhz 486 CPU and 8-20MB memory on a proprietary motherboard by Hewlett-Packard that includes a Xylinx FPGA chip for relay switching, IO mapping, multi-meter functions and an external VCSI (Vehicle Communications Serial Interface) for communicating to the vehicle's control units through diagnostic connectors. The T3 upgraded the processor to a Pentium, and the B&W display to Color. Software (RDS) ran on DOS/Win 3.1/Win95 and was loaded through a CD-Caddy style SCSI CD-ROM Drive.
T4
PC-Based diagnostic platform using a Dell Laptop instead of the TestBook 1-3's proprietary setup. Pentium III 700Mhz CPU, 128MB RAM. Instead of having the FPGA chip on the motherboard like the TestBook 1-3, it was integrated into a separate module that connected to the laptop via the Ethernet port.
WDS
In 1996, Ford and GenRad developed the PC-based diagnostic platform WDS 2000 (Worldwide Diagnostic System) which supported Ford, Jaguar, Aston Martin and Mazda vehicles. The WDS2000 replaced the GenRad-built Ford FDS2000 / Jaguar PDU. This was a Pentium II-based tablet, which had a matching docking station; a rebadged GenRad GDS3500 unit. Software was distributed on CD-ROM and the tabet's custom circuitry allowed communication with the vehicles control modules by using various cables.
Ford had GenRad develop an add on unit that included all of the interface capabilities of the Ford WDS/GDS3500. This unit, GNA600, could be plugged into the Dell-laptop, adding WDS to the T4.
IDS
Ford needed a replacement for both the WDS2000 and the T4 + GNA600 module, and they chose to run with the off-the-shelf-laptop plus interface module idea. They switched to Panasonic's Toughbook over Dell. Everything was supposed to intetegrate into the new Panasonic unit, but many dealers kept the Dell laptop for T4, and the Panasonic Toughbook for IDS.
IDS uses the Vehicle Communications Module (VCM), a USB-connected serial communications gateway that supports CAN, SCP, and ISO9141 protocols.
Starting with IDS DVD 125 (March 2011), IDS has full support for a number of J2534 Vehicle Communications Interface (VCI) devices, including the Drewtech Mongoose, Teradyne iView, Diagnostic Associates DA-VINA and DA-Dongle.
SDD
SDD (Symptom Driven Diagnostics) is a new generation of diagnostic software for the IDS system, providing a "structured diagnostic approach" and guides repairs in a flowchart-like manner. Jaguar Land Rover has various subscription options to gain access to the system for diagnostic and programming vehicle modules, fault code reading/resetting, clearing adaptions, activate pumps for brake bleeding, etc.
PATHFINDER & DoIP
Pathfinder is the latest diagnostics solution for Jaguar Land Rover vehicles, supporting model years 2017-2018+. Pathfinder is installed as an update to the IDS/SDD software, and uses a new VCI, the DoIP (Diagnostic over IP) interface.
